Summary

This client wanted to make a an umbrella hat that can fold away as tightly as possible against the wearers head, so that it can look as close as possible to a real hat when not in use.

We were able to design and prototype an umbrella spring mechanism that extends to about 2ft in diameter when a button release is pressed. The entire mechanism then retracts diagonally inward when a knob is rotated.
