Summary

This client wanted attachment for a commonly available camera so that an incompatible lens could be used. We were also specifically told to “make it look nice” since the camera with the extra lens would be sent out to be a part of data collection of a clinical trial for a medical device.

We created an attachment that can be 3D printed without any supports and stays snuggly around the camera without the need for any extra design features to keep it in place. We also added an open notch on one side so that the camera can be recharged without removing our attachment. Finally we made sure that the seam line usually present in FDM prints was hidden throughout various features all the way up the part, to create a clean and smooth plastic surface finish.
